Honestly, I think the Ornstein sisters ought to go to Hollywood, and pitch a big budget talking film to the studios. A biographical drama on Pickford could be a well-received film if the script is well written. Of course, some fictional plot would have to be woven into it. There need not be a whitewash of Mary Pickford. She was admired and loved, but also not without her faults. There are enough published accounts of Joan Crawford to suggest that maybe Faye Dunaway should not have felt apologetic for her portrayal of Joan Crawford. Am I suggesting Mary and Joan were very similar? I am not making such an inference. However, issue of Mary’s adopted children seems to be an issue that is swept under the rug. They didnt grow up to be functional, productive people. Oddly, it seems Joan Crawfords children grew up to be more productive than Mary Pickfords.
